  • Guide to Becoming an Independent Business Owner

    Below is a guidline for establishing yourself as a business owner in Ohio and may be done completely online.

    • Check here business name Name Availability to see if your chosen business name is available. Once you find your choice is unused, you may proceed.
    • Should you chose to establish your business as a LLC like most of our renters, visit Establish LLC the video link there is most helpful
    • Once the LLC is established, ask your accountant if it makes sense to select an S-corp election for your new LLC as the taxed entity for tax purposes and for help with establishing quarterly estimated taxes as well.
    • With your LLC established, you may sign up to receive your IRS EIN here EIN for free here Apply for EIN
    • With your new EIN, you may now establish your new business bank account(seperate from your personal account) through your preferred bank.
    • The building owner here requires all renters to carry their own professional liability insurance. We recommend a BOP or Business Only Policy that includes Personal and General Liability with $300,000 in property damage and $1,000,000 in libility per occurance, naming Funke & Co. Hair Deign Inc. and 27730 Chagrin LLC as additional insureds. Please provide us with 2 copies of the certificate of insurance, one for our records and one for our landlord.
    • Log in to the State of Ohio License website here License Application. Click the button + APPLY FOR A NEW LICENSE button, and on the drop down, select Cosmetology and Barber Board, and then Independent Contractor the current fee is $99.00
    • Once we establish your Meevoo2 account, you will be emailed a link to login. We will also email a video training link to familiarize yourself with Meevo2. If you have your guest list, we will take care of adding to our system.
